Job Summary

Episcopal SeniorLife Communities current opening: Food Service Worker/Server (full-time) 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Mon/Tues/Thurs and e/o w/e 6:30-2:30

Job Description


  1. Finishes cooking menu items.

  2. Plates and garnishes resident entrees, salads, soups, and desserts.

  3. Takes resident orders and serves the food in a manner consistent with established standards.

  4. Clears and resets all tables for next meal.

  5. Performs special cleaning tasks as assigned by the chef manager/food service manager.

  6. Prepares supplies for next mealís use.

  7. Performs basic cold food production.

  8. Washes all pots, pans and dishes.

  9. Records all temperatures for dish machine 3-bay sink to ensure proper concentration and cleaning procedures.

  10. Removes garbage as needed.

  11. Sweeps and mops floor as assigned.

  12. Serves resident meals as needed.

  13. Stocks each unitís bulk needs as per par level.

  14. Sets up and plates food as per ticket order.

  15. Clears resident dining tables.

  16. Labels and delivers all nourishments at assigned times.

  17. Adheres to departmental standard of dress.


  1. Knowledge of NYS DOH regulations on food operations and sanitation. Must pass the serve safe test on cooking, holding, plating and serving food.

  2. Ability to represent the Episcopal Church Home and interact effectively with vendors and service contractors.

  3. Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.


Must possess high school diploma or equivalent with reading, comprehension and writing ability at 12th grade level or higher.


Six months food service experience preferred.

Performing duties of this job requires prolonged standing and routine walking in and around the kitchen and dining area. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds and routinely lift 25 pounds without assistance and the ability to sit, talk, and hear is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
