Job Summary

The Career Development Office seeks a part-time career success counselor to provide support to students and alumni, assisting in all phases of the career development process. The counselor will provide 1:1 coaching and advice, assist students in all areas of career development and career readiness and connect students to appropriate resources, opportunities and experiences.

Job Description

 


Responsibilities Will Include:



  1. Assisting students in clarifying academic and career goals through individual career counseling;

  2. Helping students develop and refine resume writing, interviewing, and job-search skills;

  3. Assisting students in identifying graduate school options and assisting with graduate school preparation and applications.

  4. Additionally a candidate will participate in the design and delivery of career-related workshops, class presentations programs, and panels;

  5. Develop and deliver workshops and career-related programs, including new initiatives related to the 4-year career development plan, experiential learning requirement and career related core competencies and student employment;

  6. Assist with the planning and promotion of the career office to students, alumni, faculty, and employers through wide array of marketing efforts;

  7. Assist with the updating of existing marketing materials and/or development of new materials;

  8. Assist in planning and promoting Internship and Career fair and other career events;

  9. Assist with the management of Handshake, the Career Development website content to ensure current content, new resources and utilizing technology to promote Career Development Office and programs.


Requirements:



  1. The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in College Student Development, Counseling or related field, knowledge of career assessments (MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, Strengths Assessment).

  2. Additionally, three or more years’ experience, along with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

  3. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate cultural competence and must value the principles of diversity and equity.
