Job Summary

Responsible for installing, servicing and integrating health care communication systems. The Field Technician is responsible for utilizing company policy, procedure and processes to meet customer requirements. Troubleshoots and communicates solutions in a timely manner to meet objectives. Required to meet all administrative requirements including but not limited to recording job detail and hours. Responsible for assisting in the improvement of our quality, efficiency, cost reduction and safety initiatives.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Field Service Technician to perform installation, integration, maintenance, and repairs to Company supported Products, a wide variety of telecommunications systems, equipment, cabling, and software. The Field Technician will also perform other related work as required.

  1. Pre-installation preparation

    1. Assist in preparation and ensure all materials/equipment to be delivered to client.

    2. Have tools and vehicles in good working condition.

    3. Have an understanding of estimated hours and schedule to perform tasks.

    4. Review of customer contacts, rules and regulations on-site.

  2. Installation

    1. Run cable

    2. Headend/Server

    3. Terminate cable

    4. Install devices

    5. Test System and Devices

  3. Post-installation

    1. Customer training

    2. Customer sign-off

  4. Service Calls

    1. Perform test and inspection on existing clients

    2. Take assignments as the on-call service technician

    3. Perform technical service work

    4. Log service calls and complete service call form.

    5. Communicate and document as required by service manager.

  5. Meet administrative requirements

    1. Record daily hours and tasks

    2. Assist in providing all internal documentation at the completion of job.

    3. Participate in performance reviews.

    4. Understand and comply with company handbook.

    5. Follow company policy, procedure and process.

    6. Communicate opportunities for company improvement.

    7. Understand and follow company principles.

    8. Utilize Company email and calendar for communications.

  6. Participate in company training and knowledge programs

    1. Technical training on products.

    2. Technical training on services and installation methodologies.

    3. Safety training

    4. Service training

  7. Maintain compliance in the following areas for facility access

    1. Proof of up to date immunizations (some immunizations required annually)

    2. Product and service training

    3. Annual Bloodborne Pathogen and HIPPA training

    4. General Expectations and Hospital Safety training

    5. Acknowledgement of individual facility policies

Computer Skills:

  1. Perform basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics,

  2. Install hardware and software including operating system and office applications.

  3. Responsible for providing computer hardware, software and network technical support to end-users.

  4. Assists with setup and configuration of system hardware and software.

  5. Proficient in Microsoft, and the components of the MS Office Suite.

Language Ability:

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  3. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

  1. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  2. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  2. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


  1. Associate degree (A.A. / A.S.) from two-year college or trade school;

  2. OR two to five years related experience and/or training;

  3. OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

  1. Possess and maintain a valid Driverís License, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment as well as use of Company (if available).
